Guitarist and composer Guillermo Celano, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1977. After finishing his musical education at the E.M.P.A. (in Bs.As.) he traveled to Amsterdam where he got his Master degree in music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. During his student period he took lessons with many different musicians: Lee Konitz, Ben Street, Ben Monder, Chris Cheek, Mark Turner, Matt Penmann, Peter Bernstein, Nestor Crespo, David Horta, Jesse van Ruller, Arnold Dooyeweerd, Maarten v.d Grinten, John Ruocco and many others.
Bands
Co-Leader and co producer of Celano Baggiani Group. In 2001 he started the “Celano-Baggiani Group” together with drumer Marcos Baggiani. This group has meanwhile released 3 CDs already: Figuras by BAU Records, with Natalio Sued on tenor sax, Rodrigo Reijers on double bass and Florien Hamer on Cello; Simple songs by MDR, with Michael Moore on alt sax and clarinet and Sven Schuster on double bass; and Nothing changes by Trytone Records, with Michael Moore on alt sax and clarinet, Gorka Benitez on tenor sax, Sven Shuster on double bass. Co-Leader and Co-Producer of Big Grin. In 2005 he started playing with “Big Grin Trio” with Rodrigo Reijers on bass and Flin van Hemmen drums and voice; In 2007 they recorded their first CD together which came out in december 2008 by Trytone records.
During the last years he has been colaborating in different projects, among which: Narcissus quartet with Robin Verheyen, Clemens van der Feen, Flin van Hemmen and Josef Dumolin Jargon ensemble playing the music of Maurice Horsthuis, Gizmo with Edwin Berg, Phillippe Lemm and Rodrigo Reijers, Thelonius 4, Julia Oschewsky and band, Andreas Metzler's new solutions quartet with Paul van der Feen, Intuit Quintet with Arnold Dooyeweerd, David Fettman and Natalio Sued, Babak maddah group.
